Gersbach, Manalo, Umali top Bb Pilipinas Pageant
Named before them were 26-year-old Regina Hahn as second runner-up and 20-year-old Richell Agalot as first runner-up.
The coronation was held at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, with the show starting late on Saturday. It was aired live over GMA channels nationwide with Paolo Bediones and Iza Calzado as hosts.
The winners were crowned by their respective predecessors – Patricia Fernandez (Bb. Pilipinas-International), Jennifer Barrientos (Bb. Pilipina- Universe), and Danielle Castaño (Bb. Pilipinas 2008).
Castaño replaced Janina San Miguel who resigned late last year after the death of her grandfather.
Winners' backgrounds
Gersbach – who did not win any other award – was born in Germany, but her mother hails from the Bicol Region, where Gersbach manages the family restaurant in Albay. She is after all a graduate of the University of Asia and the Pacific with a degree in Management.
Manalo won several other awards – 0the Best in Swimsuit award, after which she also got a sponsor's honor, the Manila Bulletin Readers' Choice Award. Manalo, a 22-year-old native of Manila, is an Advertising graduate of the Assumption College who now works as a flight attendant.
Earlier in the night, Umali also won the Best in Long Gown and Miss Photogenic plum. Umali, a native of Batangas City, took up Tourism at the College of Saint Benilde. She plans to be a flight attendant and dreams of putting up her own restaurant.
Runners-up
Shortly before Umali's award, Angalot was named as Miss Talent, for a dance that she performed a week earlier on Talent Night on Saturday. She was also won the awards for Miss Natasha Beauty and Araneta Center Shoppers' Choice – both coming from pageant sponsors.
Angalot, a native of Tagbilaran City, graduated with a Tourism degree from the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. Under the stage name Jewel Mische, she is one of the talents of GMA Network.
Hahn, a native of Manila and Computer Science graduate from the Ateneo de Manila University, works as an information consultant for an international company.
Candidate No. 4 Gizelle Jasmin Rivamonte was named as Miss Friendship, which carried the distinction of having been voted by the other candidates themselves. Rivamonte, a 23-year-old native of Quezon City, is a registered nurse working at the Oncology Unit of the Veterans Memorial Medical Center. She graduated from the Far Easten University.
There were 24 semifinalists, but Candidate No. 13, Sandra Inez Seifert, was disqualified a week before for having done a sexy pictorial that was published in a men's magazine. - GMANews.TV
Barbara de la Rosa Salvador is fondly called “Barbie” by relatives and friends. She was born in Quezon City on February 5, 1987 to Francisco Raul Doras Salvador and Blesilda Cunanan de la Rosa who are both medical doctors. The third in a brood of three, Barbie is a bubbly big little sister to brother Ryan and sister Sandra, both nurses. She took up B.S. Communications Technology Management at the Ateneo de Manila University in Katipunan avenue, Q.C. where she graduated in March 2008. She balanced studies, work, fun, and extra-curricular activities while a scholar at the university. When not working as a student assistant at the administration office, she would star in a fashion show or a play for the Entablado group. Quite the trooper, she has also gone spelunking in the caves of Sagada, trekking to the mountain falls of Puerto Galera, and jet skiing in the waters of Batangas. She has also dabbled in some print modeling projects like a wedding magazine and a food chain brochure. Barbie does live life to the fullest in her own merry way.
As a child, Barbie was a friendly little tyke who shared toys and welcomed guests. She was always content with a leg of fried chicken and a bunch of bananas, but icecream and chocolates do feed her sometimes sweet tooth. Among her winning moments as a grader were in declamation as a kindergarten pupil, as Miss Argentina in prep, and winner of “She’s Got the Look” beauty and talent contest in first grade. In high
school she played basketball and left her mark in art class with a life sized paper mache sculpture of Medusa. When
she became adept at doing things with the computer she started helping her mother do her powerpoint presentations for medical lectures here and abroad. And when all else is quiet and boring she hammers on the piano with a few make-do tunes.
Barbie is a “giver” at heart. She gives of her self, time, and talent to those who may need it. She has done supplement teaching to poor schoolchildren, charity work with the local youth for Christ, and volunteered work for their homeowners’ association. She believes that a person’s worth is best assessed when after a good deed both the giver and the receiver have this “feel good” blood rush at equal level. She is joining the search for the 2009 Binibining Pilipinas to further hone her ability to be of service to others whilst representing her beloved Philippines in the spirit of one world that has love, peace, and understanding.

Glenn S. Quesada, an employee of Saudi Electricity Company under visa sponsorship of HAKA Group of Companies, passed the last of the series of 5 examinations of Microsoft, which earned him the title of Microsoft Certified System Administrator major in Messaging (MCSA-Messaging). He took the examination last January 7, 2009 with flying colors at the New Horizons-Prometric Testing Center at the Al-Khaleej Training Institute, Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
This latest examination he took is about the Microsoft Exchange Server, which is the server behind the email platform of Microsoft usually installed in corporate intranets. This server is installed over a Windows Server 2003 as the operating system. The second, third, and fourth examinations were regarding the installation, configuration, admininistration, and maintenance of the server operating system Windows Server 2003. The first examination he took, which was in October, 2007, is about Windows XP. This earned him the title of Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), his very first test in his Microsoft career path leading to MCSE (Microsoft Certified System Engineer), a path consisting of 8 examinations to hurdle. Glenn intends to take security as his major for MCSE.
As of this writing, he recently passed the 6th of the 8 examinations (regarding Microsoft networking). One more examination, and he will be given MCSE certification. The last one, which is the 8th, is his elective, which is about security. With this elective, he will be bestowed a 'MCSE-Security' certification.
As of date he now has the following certifications:
- MCP - (Microsoft Certified Professional), for passing examination regarding planning, installation, configuration, administration, maintenance of Windows XP
- MCSA - (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator), for passing 4 examinatiions regarding planning, installation, configuration, administration, maintenance of Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP
- MCSA-Messaging - (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator-Messaging), for an passing examination regarding planning , configuration, administration, maintenance of Windows Exchange Server 2005
These examination results and certifications are published in the Microsoft website on Microsoft Certified Professionals under Glenn S. Quesada's transcript of records.
In his hometown, Glenn is the only IT professional with MCSA on MS Windows Server 2003 platform. In his province he is one of the rare holders of this certification in said platform. Most are trained on the Windows Server 2000.

In a networked environment, like those in corporate intranets, the Windows Server 2003 is the server operating systems controlling all other client operating systems, like Windows Vista and Windows XP. Earlier version of server operating system was Wndows 2000 Server, and recently introduced in the market is Windows Server 2008. Majority of Philippine companies currently use Windows 2000 Server. Most companies around the world that use Microsoft products use Windows Server 2003. Some still use Windows NT, the precursor to the Windows 2000 Server. Windows NT is no longer supported by Microsoft.
Glenn S. Quesada is currently working in Saudi Electricity Company-Eastern Region Branch, at the company's headquarters in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. He works as IT Project Engineer in the IT Engineering and Projects Department. He is sponsored in Saudi Arabia by HAKA Group of Companies.
He registered Quesada eTechnologies (QueTech), a family home business in the Philippines which is now managed by his wife and mother after he left to work in Saudi Arabia. He is happy family man married to the former Ms. Vilma Valdez and blessed with a beautiful 2 year old girl, Maureen.
Glenn is civil engineer by profession. After passing the board examination, registered Quesada eTechnologies (QueTech), a family home business, which he nurtured to be pioneer IT business in the northeastern part of Pangasinan. while working with some IT and telcos as subcontractor. In the course of managing Quetech, he worked closely with his mentor and godfather, Wilson Chua, the owner of Bitstop Network Services, Inc., the biggest IT and networking company in Luzon's Region 1, and host to several Philippine government websites and FM internet radio stations. Also, Bitstop is distributor of industrial strength products, chief among which are Microsoft and Adobe, Intel, AMD, IBM, Dell,
His father, a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), himself, who organized QueTech, had been working in Saudi Electricity Company since 1981 in various functions as communication, IT, and substation engineer. His mother is a retired schoolteacher who now manages Quetech with Vilma. His sibling, Myrrha-sol , who is married to Geoffrey Eleno, lives and works in Hawaii as US citizen, who, too, is blessed with a 3-year old son, Marques.
The families are based in Pozorrubio, Pangasinan, Philippines, except that of Myrrha and Geoffrey's who are in Hawaii.

The great difference between those who succeed and those who fail does not consist in the amount of work done by each but in the amount of intelligent work. Many of those who fail most ignominiously do enough to achieve grand success but they labor haphazardly at whatever they are assigned, building up with one hand to tear down with the other. “Being a CEO is an awesome responsibility. It takes talent to get the job. It takes drive to keep up the job. But what it takes to be the job is passion.
Passion for what they do is so great among the CEOs who wrote to me that I practically feel their enthusiasm as I read their words. No wonder they took the time to writes such meaningful and eloquent letters!
Passion, I learned, is not fleeting emotion. It resonates in hearing and feeling range, and then is passed along for everyone to experience. Passion is contagious. That is why it is so important for a leader to possess it, and to express it with great energy and consistency.”
-Douglas Barry, Author of ‘Wisdom for a Young CEO’
On Passion:
Enthusiasm, which, though founded neither on reason nor divine revelation, but rising from the conceits of warmed or overweening brain, works yet, where it once gets footing, more powerfully on the persuasions and actions of men than either of those two, or both together: men being most forwardly obedient to the impulses they receive from themselves, and the whole man is sure to act more vigorously where the whole man is carried by a natural motion. For strong conceit, like new principle, carries all easily with it when, got above common sense and freed from all restraint of reason and check of reflection, it is heightened into a divine authority, in concurrence with our own temper and inclination.
Though the odd opinions and extravagant actions enthusiasm has run men into were enough to warn them against this wrong principle, so apt to misguide them both in their belief and conduct: yet the of love something extraordinary, the ease and glory it is to be inspired and be above the common and natural ways of knowledge, so flatters many men’s laziness, ignorance, and vanity that, when once they are got into this way of immediate revelation, of illumination without search, and of certainty without proof and without examination, it is hard matter to get them out of it. Reason is lost upon them, they are above it; they see the light infused into their understandings, and cannot be mistakes: it is clear and visible there, like the light of bright sunshine, shows itself, and needs no other proof but its own evidence; they feel the hand of God moving them wihtin and the impulsed of th Spirit, and cannot be mistaken in what they feel. Thus they support themselves and are sure reason hath nothing to do with what they see and feel in themselves: what they have a sensible experience admits no doubt, needs no probation. Would he not be ridiculous who should require to have it proved to him that the light shines and that he sees it? It is its own proof and can have no other. When the spirit brings light into our minds, it dispels darkness. We see it as we do that to of the sun at noon, and need not the twilight of reason to show it us. This light from heaven is strong, clear, and pure, carries its own demonstration with it, and we may as rationally take a glow-worm to assist us to discover the sun as to examine the celestial ray by our dim candle, reason.
